Architecture: DecisionCentric® Server

DecisionCentric is a business intelligence system made up of multiple components, all designed to work together and quickly provide the user with actionable information—even for ad hoc requirements. The components of the system include the DecisionCentric server, repository, client interface, database drivers, the Enterprise Information Integration (EII) based data integration engine, and the business intelligence reporting and data analytics tools.

DecisionCentric’s server software resides at the heart of the DecisionCentric business intelligence software system. The J2EE (Java 2, Enterprise Edition) platform of the server enhances the power and agility of the DecisionCentric business intelligence system. It does this by leveraging the business intelligence components which provide a complete set of tools to the business intelligence system. Because the DecisionCentric server software is a J2EE web application, it will run on any system hardware platform that supports a J2EE-compliant web server (for example, Websphere).

Decision Technology built the DecisionCentric system on current, proven and accepted programming and technology standards. DecisionCentric’s server software leverages these strengths to support the business intelligence system as a whole. For example, DecisionCentric’s server software uses both LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) and Active Directory (Windows server architecture). This enables organizations to efficiently share and manage information about network resources and users.

DecisionCentric comes with its own J2EE web server in case you don’t have one. The DecisionCentric server communicates with the client and other system components using Web Services. The server software integrates with other enterprise business intelligence systems and portals through the same means.
